Have you heard of ‘the four gift rule’?
It is a simple gift-giving philosophy (possibly dating back to the days of Socrates and Plato though I can’t confirm this) whereby children receive four gifts for Christmas or their birthday.
These four gifts fall under the following four categories: something you want, something you need, something to wear, something to read.
Want. Need, Wear. Read.
How neat. And it rhymes. Bonus.
So, even though it does sound like I’m making fun of this idea, this is kind of how we do presents here.
Except our version (although I can’t take credit for its invention) goes like this …
SOMETHING TO PLAY WITH
SOMETHING TO WEAR
SOMETHING TO READ
SOMETHING TO SHARE
It is just as neat. And it still rhymes. Bonus.
